![]() Welcome to the Great State of Ohio! As the creator of AntiqueShopsInOhio.com, I wanted to take this opportunity to express how excited I am to present to you a website that is bursting with over 1000 antique shop listings in this great State as well as, upon its publication, over 275 pages of history and unique insight into the past, present and future of the Great State of Ohio. Known as the “Buckeye State”, this fabulous land of “firsts” holds an empire of historical significance. From the era of Mound Builders and Native Americans, through the progression of the earliest known settlers of this great Country to strike out into the Western Reserve, in the journey of our Country's commitment to the Industrial Revolution and now well into this new millennium, Ohio has stood tall and proud in every chapter of it's vast history. While researching information to include in this site, I gained a new appreciation, and at times was left in awe, over the magnitude of the importance this State has been to our Great Country. If you take time to peruse the vast pages of this web-site you will discover that Ohio has been the birthplace of seven US Presidents, second only to the State of Virginia and bestowing the State the nickname “Mother to all Presidents". You will uncover fascinating facts about the State such as: Did you know that Ohio became the 17th State admitted to the Union by an act of Congress on February 19, 1803; although an official resolution was never passed! It wasn't until 1953 that the oversight came to light. On Ohio's 150th Birthday, August 7, 1953, President Eisenhower signed the Official Congressional Bill admitting Ohio to Statehood retroactive to March 1, 1803. Explore the very important role this great State played during the era of the Civil War and Underground Railroad. You will also be amazed to find out why I have dubbed Ohio as “The Fabulous Land of Firsts”. When I discussed these fascinating facts with my teenage son, his comment was “Ohio sounds like a State on Steroids!” Also, click on the Map of Ohio below and to see Ohio's State Symbols and Facts. From the shores of Lake Erie to the banks of the mighty Ohio River, Ohio holds secrets to the past and a zest for the future. It is my hope that I have portrayed and presented to you in an enjoyable and easily accessible manner, an avenue to locate the ideal antique shop that holds the perfect treasure from the past. But I also hope that you will take the time to discover the rich heritage, the vast unspoiled countryside, the amazing lifestyles and the merriment of Ohio's attractions, which the Buckeye State has to offer. We at ATD Marketing invite you to come on in, stay a while and comeback often. “OHIO – SO MUCH TO OFFER!” Enjoy! Eryn P. Massey, If you have photos of or historical stories about the Great State of Ohio, either old or current you would care to share with us. Please contact: antiqueshopsin...
